Contracts

Type of contract are: 

  • school-company – student 
  • Usually, the VET school and interested companies sign a contract at the beginning of each academic year.  
  • These contracts are mostly  generic.  
  • Bilateral contracts between companies, schools and individual learners, which would regulate the rights and duties of all three parties with regard to training delivery and learning assessment, are not common practice.

Contracts:

WBL contracts are concluded between the school and company or three-way contract between school – business – parent (less represented). In some education systems in BiH there are stipulated contracts used by all schools, but mostly, the schools and companies create their own contracts (see examples in the Documents menu).

Guidance and checklist

The basis for organizing WBL in BiH are the existing legal frameworks according to which there are no mechanisms for tracking and collecting WBL data at the level of education systems. At  BiH level, within the framework of project activities, guidelines and manuals have been developed containing guidelines and all supporting documents (checklists and forms) for all actors in the WBL preparation, execution, evaluation, monitoring and improvement process. There are several capacity building activities such as

  • promoting the attractiveness of VET to students of the final grades of primary schools, by organizing“open door”, visits to the schools and presentations of the possibilities of VET, organizing days of VET schools, or use of printed and digital media…
  • establishing the dual principle in Secondary VET education by creating flexible curricula in future qualifications.
  • Within sectoral councils searching for demand of (future) qualifications and competences.
  • Organizing round tables, conferences and also training for all participants in this process…
